Many publications are available on govinfo that are not in one of the collections listed on the What's Available page. These publications can be accessed by navigating to their landing page from the Browse A to Z list or the Browse by Category page, or the individual publications can be accessed through basic or advanced search.

For example, you can access NIST Publications by:

Navigating to the landing page where there are links to each series of publications in search results
Conducting a basic search for keywords or field operators
Conducting an advanced search and selecting Additional Government Publications or Bulk Submission under Refine by Collection

Search Examples

Search by Keyword and Date Range – For example,documents from December 31, 1994 to January 1, 1997 with the word debate in the text or metadata.

Using Basic Search, enter: debate collection:gpo publishdate:range(1994-12-31, 1997-01-01)
Using Advanced Search, under Date Range select Date is between from the first box, enter 12-31-1994 in the second box, and enter 01-01-1997 in the next box, then select Additional Government Publications under Refine by Collection and under Search In, enter debate in the second box

Search by Congress Number – For example, documents from the 94th Congress.

Using Basic Search, enter: collection:gpo congress:94
Using Advanced Search, select Additional Government Publications under Refine by Collection, then under Search In select Congress Number from the first box and enter 94 in the second box

Search by Title – For example, documents with hinds precedents in the title.

Using Basic Search, enter: collection:gpo title:(hinds precedents)

Using the Advanced Search page, select Additional Government Publications under Refine by Collection, then under Search In select Title from the first box and enter hinds precedents in the second box

Metadata fields and values can be entered into the Basic Search box using field operators. The field operators available for the Federal Register are listed in the table below, along with examples for each metadata field. Using Field Operators

SuDoc Class Number	The SuDoc class number from the U.S. Superintendent of Documents which classifies Government publications by publishing agency.	sudocclass:	sudocclass:"Y 1.1/2:SERIAL 13151-7"
Ingestion Date	The date the document was ingested into the govinfo preservation repository.	ingestdate:	ingestdate:2009-08-15 Date format is YYYY-MM-DD
Electronic Location (URL)	The URL where the document or the document in context (the content detail page) is located.	url:	url:"http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/GPO-HPREC-DESCHLERS-V7/pdf/HPREC-DESCHLERS…"
Publisher	The government organization who publishes the document or publication. Not typically the Government Publishing Office (who serves as the printer and distributor), except in the case of Congressional publications.	publisher:	publisher:"u.s. government printing office"
Branch	The branch of Government responsible for the document's contents.	branch:	branch:legislative Possible Values: Executive, Legislative, Judicial
Type of Resource	The media type for the document, typically "text". Defined as part of the Library of Congress MODS standard.	typeofresource:	typeofresource:text
WAIS Database Name	The name of the WAIS database to which the document belonged in the former GPO Access system.	waisdbname:	waisdbname:deschler_precedents
